Teddy bear bride and Teddy bear groom are the first items in Steiff's high-quality and limited wedding edition.In 19th century Bavaria, bride and groom wore traditional costumes that were beautifully made and embroidered like these. The Teddy bear bride's dress is modelled on the so-called "Miedertracht" (tight-bodiced style) from Munich and the Teddy bear groom is wearing long leather trousers, held up by the braces worn in Sarntal in the Austrian Tyrol. The Teddy bear bride features a bodice made of black moiré is worn as an outer garment. It is underlaid with linen, lined with cotton and has silver-coloured lacing. Underneath it, the Teddy bear bride wears a shimmering green silk camisole lined with linen. Her stiff silver cap shows that she is (still) unmarried. The Teddy bear groom's pride and joy are the ornamentation and embroidery on his traditional braces, and his pouch-type belt has particularly elaborate decoration too (mostly quill embroidery).
