Description
Here is a marvelous, huge Kestner Character that I received from the original owner along with her twin I will list in a few days. She has a beautiful face, huge brown sleep eyes, original plaster pate and mohair wig, wonderful chunky body, fabulous antique dress, I think original shoes and socks along with a stunning antique Victorian velvet bonnet with huge flowers and bows. She is 33" tall and marked M 1/2 Made in Germany 16 1/2 171 11 and was made in the late 1800's by the Kestner Doll factory and her face is gorgeous. She has fabulous, perfect smooth creamy bisque with no chips, cracks or hairlines. Her coloring is fantastic and the detail to her face is stunning. She has huge brown glass sleep eyes, all her eyelid wax along with painted lower lashes and 4 porcelain teeth. The sculpting to her face is amazing and the shading to her lips and her rosy cheeks is fabulous. She has her original plaster pate and her original mohair wig is marvelous. The wig is thick and full with curls down the back. It’s a bit messy from being packed away but it’s a gorgeous wig. Her chunky, wood jointed and composition body is in excellent condition and still retains the original finish. There is some normal wear but no touch ups or repairs and her hands and fingers are super. Her antique drop waist dress is stunning with pleats around the bottom and long fuller sleeves. It has tatting or hand tied eyelets around the collar and sleeves and buttons up the back. There are a couple little stains that are hard to see but I think the dress is nice and clean. It has a wonderful matching silk ribbon around the drop waist. I took the ribbons out of her hair since someone had used them to make her have pigtails. Her antique slip is wonderful and I think really is more of a dress with ruffles but it makes her dress flair out beautifully. I think her shoes are original and still have the glass buttons at the ankles and buckles on the toes. Her antique Victorian bonnet is outstanding. It’s a deep brown velvet with huge antique flowers the top and sides and it has wonderful little hat pins tucked on the sides. It has velvet ties with a velvet bow in front but that needs to be stitched in place as I have them pinned. I don’t sew or mend so I’ll leave that to you. She is absolutely gorgeous and would make a fabulous addition to any Kestner collection so if you love the big girls this is the one for you. This marvelous huge, early, 33" Kestner or JDK 171 Character Girl books for around $2300.00 but my reserve is less so don't let her get away. Lucky winner pays $40.00 S/I and international would be more. Email any questions and thanks for looking.
