Description Offered up for your bidding consideration is this RARE and WONDERFUL 11" black-haired Parian Autoperipatekos (walking doll). Made by the firm of Martin and Runyon of Broadway, New York, U.S.A. Circa, 1862.  She has a RARER hairdo and is also a BLACK haired Parian head! A great combination and not usually found on the Autoperipatekos dolls.  Works very well and comes with her original key.  She is guaranteed to free of hairlines, cracks, or restorations.  Her face is beautifully painted with all her features - eyes, brows, cheeks, lips, painted wonderfully! (see photos). She is dressed in her original cotton dress with a replacement black lace overlay on the tangerine colored dress.  A molded blouse bodice accents her shoulderplate. She has leather arms. She comes with the top of her original box. These fabulous walking dolls have brass feet and a cardboard base for the dress form. Marked well at the bottom of the carton base is "Patented July 15, 1862: also, in Europe 20th. Dec., 1862". "This Doll is only intended to walk on a smooth surface" is clearly marked at the bottom of the base. Really an EXCELLENT antique doll and an unusual piece to add to your collection!
